Torrent - An Introduction

From few past days, I got one common question from few of my friends. That is, "What is a torrent..?" I gave all of them some explanation about torrents like what is a torrent, how to download it, etc and finally I decided to write it for my readers.

      Torrent.

Torrent file will have
a ".torrent" extension.

Torrent File :

Torrent is a very small file whose file name ends with ".torrent" extension. A torrent file contains all the information about the file to be downloaded like file name, file size, date of creation and some other information. You can download very large files like games, movies, videos etc very easily using torrents. You can also use torrents to share files with your friends instead of sharing files through messengers.

It is basically a file that has been compiled and open for download. A Torrent will also contains a list of trackers. It gets transfered through a system of the seeders and the lechers. Here is the description.

Tracker  : A computer on the internet. It comes into action as soon as you open the
                .torrent file using a torrent client.

Seeder   : A person who has more than 0% of the file associated with torrent.
Leecher : A person who is attempting to download the files through torrent.

The downloading time will depend on the number of seeders and leechers. More the seeders, lesser the time and more the leechers, more the time.

Note : According to me, you don't need to remember all these things. In very simple words, "Torrent is a download mechanism which allows to download the parts of a file from more than one server." In my very next post i will show you how to download a movie, games using Torrent File.
