DND Advantages and Disadvantages

By activating Do Not Disturb Service.,

> you can block all the unwanted promotional telemarketing calls.

> you can block all the unwanted promotional telemarketing SMS.

> They are named as UCC.

> UCC Means “Unsolicited Commercial Communication” which means any message, through telecommunications service, which is transmitted for the purpose of informing about, or soliciting or promoting any commercial transaction in relation to goods, investments or services which a subscriber opts not to receive.

> And Even if your number is registered in NDNC registry, you can receive any message (other than promotional message) relating to a service or financial transaction under a specific contract between the parties to such contact.

But As per TRAI Regulation,

> Every mobile user can send a maximum of 100 free/discounted SMSs per day. The Authority has decided that no Access Providers shall provide any SMS packages in any form (Through student pack, seasonal pack and etc) permitting sending of more than 100 SMS per day per SIM except on blackout days or days specially notified by TRAI.

> Users can only send SMS to people who are not in the National Do Not Call Registry.

> And Users cannot send SMS after 9pm and before 9am, all communication should happen only between 09:00 & 21:00 every day. This is for all consumers irrespective of the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC) list.

> All the above regulations are applicable to all the sms based websites.
(Such as Way2sms, tagg.in and smsgushup and more.)

> So that If you registered your mobile in DND Registry, you will never get any group messages from tagg.in, gingly and smsgushup websites. (If you want to receive sms allures of ihacc through tagg.in, You must unsubscribe from DND Registry. Just send an sms STOP DND to 1909 or Dial 1909 and then unsubscribe.)

At the beginning TRAI was planed to implement these regulations on 1st February 2011. But it has postponed its deadline from 1st Feb 2011 to 1st march 2011.
