How Torrents are working..?

- You download a .torrent file which has some info and a link to the tracker server.

- The tracker server tracks each and every peer;
  The people who are downloading or have downloaded.
- Your torrent program connects to this server and requests a list of peers.

- Then it connects to the peers which have already downloaded parts of the file,
  Which you still have to get. It may connect to a dozen peers at the time.

- You then keep repeating to download little parts from others.
  And others download from you, until you have a complete file.

This mechanism keeps the bandwidth down for the servers,
And still allows distribution of files.

Torrent : Is it legal...?

However, Torrents have become very popular with software and media pirates. It because the file itself will never be located on a central server. Instead,  It will be split over hundreds of computers. This means you can not tackle it easily by shutting down any one server. And it because the tracker does not have a physical copy of the file itself. A Torrent either describes the files being shared, or a metadata file pointing to them. Its not doing anything illegal. On the other hand, copyright infringement is illegal.

When people tell you that torrents are illegal. Don't listen to them.
Some content on torrents is illegal. But very much is legal.

Torrent : How to download..?

It is very easy to download through torrents. First of all download and install a torrent client software. You need this software to open torrent files.

1. Now find a Torrent file of any files, games, movies that you want to download.

2. Download that torrent file.
3. Open this torrent file using uTorrent. (Or any other client software)

4. And it will start downloading the file for you.

Note: There are lot of torrent search engines are available on the internet. By using them we can easily find the .torrent files of games and movies. I will categorize them in my next post. And i will show to how to use google for finding a torrent file.
